How to Measure AI Search Queries for Spas?

Set up the right query set and reporting rhythm to measure mentions, recommendations, sources, and competitor differences in ChatGPT and AI searches.

Testing AI visibility with a single question is misleading. Answers vary by query format, time, model, and current sources used. Therefore, a small but balanced query panel is needed.

The goal is not to run every possible question, but to repeatedly measure queries representing the customer decision journey using the same method.

Group queries by customer intent

Discovery queries seek general options, service queries focus on a specific experience, trust queries seek reviews and reliability. Price and comparison queries are closer to the decision stage.

Select two or three high-value questions from each group. Use location and service names in real customer language; don’t target visibility for areas your business doesn’t offer.

  • Discovery: Good spa options in the area
  • Service: Couple massage or treatment type
  • Trust: Reliability and reviews
  • Comparison: Differences between brand and alternatives
  • Decision: Price, availability, and booking

Record mentions, recommendations, and sources separately

The brand name appearing in the answer is not a clear recommendation. Keep brand mentions, positive recommendations, approximate recommendation position, and sources used in separate fields during measurement.

Tracking which query and source competitors rank highest in generates more actionable insights than the overall score. If the same source repeats, it’s worth reviewing for information consistency.

Interpret changes with control

Run the same query set regularly and timestamp major content changes. Don’t interpret a single positive response as a lasting rise; track the trend over multiple measurements.

At the end of the report, include not just the score but the top three proven businesses. This turns the measurement from a dashboard into an actionable work plan.
